try begging
The child clapped his hands as five baskets full of warm bread were brought to the table.
"Wow, the bakery is really here."
Ellie, who had fallen asleep late last night, woke up at the crack of dawn again today, rubbing her sleepy eyes. Then, when she told him that she had to go to the bakery to buy bread, he taught him that a man doesn't go to a bakery, but calls it.
Actually, there was a little commotion before that. Grace fell asleep again, and the child went out alone to find the front door where her coat was hanging, and got lost in the maze-like suite. Fortunately, she didn't cry, but she picked up a random phone in the hallway and said, 'It's Ellie. Here's the way.'
The hotel's front desk was alarmed when they received a call that a guest in their suite had gotten lost, and the Winstons' employees ended up playing hide-and-seek with a two-year-old in the wee hours of the morning.
Pierce, the one who had found the missing 'lady', was standing behind the man, still looking like he couldn't believe what was happening in front of him. Campbell, who was always expressionless, was easy to dismiss as a person without any emotions, but Pierce, whose emotions were clearly visible on his face, was not so easy to do.
"I'm going to get sick because there are so many eyes watching me."
Grace muttered so that only the man sitting across the round table could hear. Soon only the hotel butler and the Winstons' maid were left in the restaurant.
"Ellie is a yogurt."
Ellie, who couldn't eat much because her stomach was small, carefully chose the bread sent from the hotel bakery and asked Grace.
"What will Mom do?"
"Same thing for Mom. Just one thing."
"Okay."
"Thank you. Dad, please choose one too."
Grace winked at the man who was watching without being able to join in on their conversation. The man who was smiling now didn't know what he was thinking, but it wasn't him, it was just consideration for the child.
Although they never agreed to do so, they both pretended to be on good terms in front of the child. Even a two-year-old can be tactful. Yesterday, I had a brief argument in front of the child, and on the way to the hotel, Mom and Dad kept asking me why I was fighting, which was a bit awkward.
"What is Daddy's Muggle?"
"Give me the same thing, Dad."
As the child placed the bread on the plate, the man took the child's hand and kissed the back of it. Grace had to strain her eyes to keep her frown from rising.
"Thank you, my princess."
There was a small kitchen next to the dining room in the suite. When we ordered breakfast, the chef came up and prepared it on the spot. When the chef failed to finish Ellie's difficult egg dish the first time, Ellie shouted when he came back to make it again.
"I'm touched."
At that moment, a wrinkle appeared between the man's eyebrows as he smiled happily.
"Ellie."
I thought the man was trying to correct his pronunciation by calling the child in a serious voice, but it wasn't.
"Nobles do not use formal language with their subordinates. Even when they do use informal language, they rarely say thank you. They usually praise others. Good job. Good job. Thanks for your hard work. Like this."
As she looked with troubled eyes at the man teaching the child the ways of the nobility, the child's eyes widened and she asked Grace a difficult question.
"Is Eli a noble?"
The child knew very well that although they called her a princess, it was only a game and that she was a commoner.
"That's right. Since her father is a noble, Ellie is also a noble."
But men plant unreasonable expectations in their children. It is a world where even a half-aristocrat born to married parents is hard to be recognized. What about a half-illegitimate child?
What on earth is that man thinking? Is he just trying to win the child's favor?
Grace tried to hide her disapproval as she stared at the smiling man as he straightened the toy crown on the child's head.
"What are you doing, honey?"
I was applying lipstick in the dressing room attached to the bedroom I shared with Ellie when a man came in dressed casually and asked me.
"Getting ready for work."
He raised his eyebrows and tilted his head.
"You said you would raise Ellie if I earned money?"
"under...."
The man laughed, leaned back against the wall, and rubbed his forehead with the tip of his index finger. However, he only laughed as if he was dumbfounded and did not say anything in return.
Now, she knows that there is no reason or meaning to go to the company. Grace was just testing Leon Winston. The old Leon Winston hated Grace going out, and even being seen by other men. She wanted to see if he really changed as she said.
"Okay, do whatever you want."
"I don't remember asking your permission."
"Instead, we will attach security guards."
"I think I misspoke about surveillance?"
"Don't forget that the remnants may still be nearby."
"Oh, this will delay the arrest of the remaining members. I can't lose the excuse to keep an eye on me."
The man chuckled, then came over to the vanity mirror where she was looking. Grace applied mascara and recited the rules to Ellie's 'nanny'.
"He has a lot of things he can't eat and dislikes, so ask him for lunch before ordering. Did you see him freaking out at the sight of the mushrooms earlier? And his nap is usually from 1 to 3. Don't give him too many sweets, and don't give him desserts with alcohol or coffee. Don't give him everything he asks for either. He'll get spoiled. He understands what you say, so just tell him off with words when he does something wrong. If you're going to give him crayons, make sure you're watching him closely. If you look away, you'll have to redo all the wallpaper in his suite."
Even after the speech was over, the man didn't leave. He stood with his arms crossed and leaned back in a prominent position, watching her put on makeup and put on a suit.
"...I have to endure it."
She pretended not to hear the sound of her muttering, as if she was still trying to hold back, that she didn't want to show it to other men, and stood up, putting her pearl earrings on her ears. Then she put her feet on the stool and picked up a pair of black stockings from the dressing table. She felt the man's eyes glued to her, but she very slowly pulled the stockings up over her calves.
This was also a test.
It was like shaking his favorite delicacy in front of a man who had been starving for three years. As expected, the shape of the front of his pants began to change.
But the ending was unexpected. I thought he would turn around and attack her right away, but the man just watched persistently and didn't touch her even though his lower body looked increasingly uncomfortable.
He finally touched her, but it was not somewhere else but her head. He stroked Grace, who was filling the garter on the other stocking, as if she were Ellie, and then he left the dressing room. He threw this kind of scolding.
"I hope our daughter doesn't take after your wicked ways."
Grace's cheeks turned red as she tried to test herself but ended up being treated like a mother of a promiscuous child.
As the sedan stopped in front of the movie theater building, Ellie, sitting on her father's lap, waved cheerfully.
"Mom, take care."
Grace felt a little sorry that he greeted her cheerfully instead of insisting that she not go. Clearly, in that little head of his, all he wanted to do was play with dolls.
"Have fun. Listen carefully."
"Yeah. Mom, do a good job. Go get a kiss from Ellie."
Oh my, how could I hate you?
Grace bowed her head to the child. She was about to leave after receiving a kiss from Ellie when the man grabbed her waist and pulled her towards him.
"Go get a kiss from dad too."
Grace had no choice but to smile with the corners of her eyes wide open in front of the child, and swear at him with her eyes.
Do you want a fist kiss?
The man also smiled with the corners of his eyes wide, then bowed his head to Grace in a sarcastic manner. He turned his head slightly just before their lips touched. However, the lips that were supposed to touch her cheek went down a long way and settled on her neck.
"ah!"
My skin tingled. It was generous of me to just receive a kiss, but the shameless man kissed me, and on the nape of my neck at that. I couldn't get angry in front of Ellie, so I just secretly pinched the hand around my waist and got out of the car.
"See you later."
The man ignored her and waved only at his daughter before entering the building. As soon as he got on the elevator, he took out his compact from his handbag. Grace grimaced as she looked at the spot where the man had kissed her a moment ago in the mirror. As expected, the man's territory mark was clearly red and left behind.
'I didn't know he was such a childish guy back then.'
I have no eye for people. Grace sighed inwardly and wrapped her scarf tightly around her neck to hide the hickey.
