Lunch Time Madness

Lunch Time Madness

It was lunchtime now and I had a bigger headache from Miss Sarcrovy's class. She always managed to give me a headache.

I was currently putting my books away in my locker when I heard someone call my name. I turned around to see Danny coming towards me, a grin on his face.

"Hey, New Girl, shall I take you to the lunch hall?" He offered, the grin never leaving his face.

This boy needed to be held back a few grades.

"No thanks. I think I'll find my way" I said, forcing a smile.

He waved off what I said with his hand.

"Don't worry. I'll take you. After all, you probably heard, I'm a nice guy" he said, popping his collar.

I turned around to shut my locker.

"Listen, Danny. I'm not new here. I've been going here for a while. Now, I don't want you to argue with me on this matter. I think I know if I have, so just take my word and let's just get on with our lives. Understood?" I said firmly, leaving no room for argument.

No answer.

I turned around to see him talking to two girls. He was putting his arm out in front of him and they were touching his biceps.

"No, ladies, I'm not on steroids. These guns are the real deal, baby" He said smugly, flexing his arm muscles.

The girls giggled and carried on touching his arm, making me roll my eyes. He didn't listen to a word I'd said

I walked away from the weird scene and made my way to the lunch hall.

As soon as I got in, all eyes were on me. No doubt, they were looking where I was gonna sit. If I sat with Aaron, it would confirm that we were in a relationship like most people had been gossiping over for the past few hours. If I sat alone, the rumours would be tossed aside and a new rumour would start.

That's how it worked here.

I sighed and searched the tables until I found Aaron. He was sitting at the table with a large group and I briefly wondered what I should do. Often I would make my way and sit outside for lunch where I didn't have to face anyone and the silence would calm me.

Yet, Aaron had told me to meet him for lunch and I couldn't chicken out. I had told him I would, after all.

I walked up to the table, hearing people whisper with every step. Aaron, and everyone on the table, looked up at me and he smiled, standing up as I neared.

I tensed as he enveloped me in a hug.
"Hey, what took you so long?" He murmured and I tensed as it tickled my neck.

"Sorry, I was let out of class late" I said, not sounding sorry at all and he withdrew from me with a tantalising smile. His arms stayed around my waist as he did so.

I felt very conscious of the stares from his friends at the table, no doubt assessing my relation with him and I cowered. Aaron seemingly noticed this as he tightened his hold around my waist, bringing my attention back to him.
"Don't worry about it, I brought you some food" He answered and I smiled in thanks, feeling happy at the gesture. He then pulled me down to sit with him and carried on eating his food, his other hand still holding my hand.

I blushed and looked around. Yes. Everyone was staring and whispering. I chose to tune out their words, knowing that the comments would hurt me and I didn't need that negativity right now.

I ignored them all and looked at my plate, taking a big bite out of my pizza. I was starving as I had missed breakfast due to my nerves and didn't care to even monitor the way I was eating. I turned around to find Aaron staring at me, his eyes wide with amusement.

"What? Why do you look so shocked for?" I questioned, suddenly self conscious, I looked in my phone screen to see if there was anything on my face.

He laughed in response to which my eyes narrowed slightly.

"Wouldn't you be shocked if you saw a tiny girl attack a pizza? It's quite entertaining to watch- like an Attenborough special." He said, eyebrows raised.

I scoffed indignantly.
"I am not tiny!" I exclaimed, picking up on his description of me rather than his comments on my table manners.

He looked me up and down incredulously.
"Seriously, don't you see it? You're so tiny" He said, latching his slender fingers around my wrist.

"So small" He muttered, staring at his fingers that enveloped my wrist perfectly.

I swatted his arm away with heated cheeks, but composed myself and spoke.

"Like your brain, I'm sure" I said, childishly.

He looked up at me, his expression filled with humour. He then came closer, his hot breath hitting my lips.
"Well, I do make up for it, trust me." He said, a smirk on his lips.

I gasped when I understood the innuendo and smacked his hand away from my wrist. I shoved the pizza away from me. I had suddenly lost my appetite.

He laughed at my reaction, taking a bite out of my pizza.
"Don't be a kid, Lexi. Just eat your food" He said, pushing the food back towards me.

I shook my head and folded my arms across my chest, giving him my best glare.
"I'm not that hungry, thanks to you." I grumbled out.

He laughed at this and grabbed the pizza from the plate.

"Eat it" He commanded.

I stilled, trying to take the pizza out his grasp, but he wouldn't let me, his eyes alit with amusement. I sighed heavily before allowing him to feed me.

"Aw, bro, why don't you feed me like that?" Danny whined from the opposite side of the table.

Everyone looked at him weirdly, even me. Danny cleared his throat awkwardly and looked down and carried on eating his food.

"So why can't you come to my party?" Aaron said, drawing my attention away from his strange friend.

I looked down. I couldn't tell him. We weren't close, so I lied.
"Oh, family dinner. Can't miss it" I said, forcing a smile.

He seemed to buy it because he smiled.
"Oh okay" He said whilst shrugging and I sighed in relief as he dropped it.

"So, are you guys like together or something?" Someone questioned from his group of friends. She had black hair and green eyes. She was sporting a bored expression, but I could tell she was interested.

I looked over to Aaron, but he was busy talking to someone else. I just have to handle her myself, I thought.

"Yes, we are." I smiled at her.

The girl looked at Aaron for a whole before looking at me. It was a moment before she smiled.
"Good luck with that. I give it 2 weeks before you drop the ape. You're too smart not to" She joked, eating from her plate and I let out a small laugh at her words.

"2 weeks? I give myself 1." I added to which she let out a laugh, looking to me with her eyes peaked with interest.

"I sure hope it's longer." She said simply before someone called for her attention and she turned away from me.

I spent the rest of the portion eating and watching the interactions on the table. It was strange to be around so many people and slightly overwhelming. Yet, I didn't completely hate it.

The bell rung, signalling last period. I sighed and got up, as did everyone. I looked to Aaron to say goodbye, but he was occupied talking to someone. I would wait, but I couldn't be late for another lesson, so I rushed out of the lunch hall and accidentally bumped into someone.

"Are you okay?" I asked  the person on the floor. The person nodded his head and stood up. I stood up as well and that was when I recognised the person. Those green eyes, that tanned skin, that brown curly hair.

"Oh, Elliot, I'm so sorry!" I apologised politely.

He looked up from the floor and smiled.

"It's fine, what's got you in such a hurry?" He inquired, holding his folders which were tucked under his arm.

I grinned sheepishly.
"Can't be late for class again"I said, shrugging my shoulders.

He laughed, stepping out of the way and gesturing for me to go.

"Well, who am I to stop you? Carry on, your Highness" He joked and I let out a giggle, nudging him as I walked past.
